Principal Component Analysis of Co-Founders' Competencies in Internationally- Oriented Digital Startups

Abstract

Today, startups play a more special role in the Economy. digital startups not only create many products to make life better but also help provide many job opportunities in promoting economic growth. For growth in the Digital Industry market orientation, an international orientation is crucial and co-founders should have competencies based on these requirements. The current research is descriptive and survey in terms of data and information collection method and practical in terms of purpose. The research strategy is the mixed method with a combined case study and PCA. The statistical population of this research is the co-founders of 934 digital startups in Iran. And according to the interview with 48 experts through the case study method and then, the PCA method, the most important competencies of the co-founders of this field were extracted. The findings are presented in the form of 5 dimensions and 35 components. Based on this, 5 components of Risk-taking, Global and Multinational value chain approach, Market awareness, Financial and economic skills, and Knowledge and Innovation Awareness were identified as the most important components in Co-Founders' Competencies in Internationally- Oriented Digital Startups.
